First part: Shiva-Shakti reunion (based on Shiva Purana)

Sati's renunciation and Mahadev's renunciation:In ancient times, Daksh Prajapati's daughter Sati, saddened by her father's insult to Mahadev, manifested fire with the power of yoga and sacrificed her life. Mahadev became distraught due to separation from Sati and went into extreme renunciation. He turned his back on all the works of creation and went into samadhi (samadhi) in the secluded caves of the Himalayas. The entire creation started becoming powerless in the absence of Shiva.

Birth of Mother Parvati and sermon of Narad:The same Sati later appeared as 'Parvati', daughter of mountain king Himalaya and Maina. When she became eligible for marriage, Devarshi Narad told Parvatraj that his daughter could be married only to Mahadev, but for this he would have to do severe penance.

Parvati's severe penance and importance of Sawan:Mother Parvati resolved to get Mahadev as her husband. She gave up food and survived only on air and water for years. Finally,in the month of Shravanhe touched the pinnacle of his penance. Even in the cold rain of Sawan, she kept chanting the name of Shiva while sitting among the five elements. Seeing his rigorous devotion, Mahadev's posture shook.

Examination and meeting by Mahadev:Lord Shiva, taking the form of an old Brahmin (Batuk), tested Parvati and condemned Mahadev. Parvati got angry and asked the Brahmin to leave from there and expressed her undying love for Shiva. Seeing Parvati's determination, Mahadev appeared in his true form and said - "O Goddess! From today onwards I am your slave bought by your penance." The union of Shiva and Shakti was confirmed in this holy period of Sawan, that is why this month is dearer to Mahadev than his life.

Second part: Story of the merchant of Amravati (Monday fasting story)

The merchant's sorrow and the compassion of Shiva:Once upon a time, there lived a very prosperous merchant in the city of Amravati. He had no shortage of money and grains, but due to not having children he was constantly sad. He used to fast devoutly on every Monday of Sawan and light the lamp in the Shiva temple. Seeing his devotion, Mother Parvati prayed to Lord Shiva to grant him the happiness of having a child. Mahadev said - "Devi! He is not destined to have a child, and even if he gets a son, he will have a short life of only12 years." On repeated request of the mother, Mahadev blessed the businessman to have a son.

Birth of a son and journey to Kashi:Within a year, a very beautiful son was born in the businessman's house. The businessman was happy, but due to his short life of knowledge, he became more engrossed in devotion to Shiva. When the child turned 11 years old, the businessman decided to send him to Kashi to receive education. He sent the child's maternal uncle along and ordered - "Wherever you rest on the way, perform a yagya there and provide food to the Brahmins."

Incomplete marriage and arrival of Yamraj:On the way, there was a wedding of the daughter of a city king. The prince was one-eyed (blind in one eye), so the king tricked the merchant's son into becoming his groom. After the marriage, the child wrote on the princess's pallu - "You are married to me, but the prince with whom you will be sent is one-eyed." The princess refused to go and the boy went to Kashi with his maternal uncle.

Victory over death and Shiva's grace:Kaashi mein baalaka ki aayu ke 12 varsha poorn hue. Jisa dina usaki mrityu nishchita thi, usa dina ghar mein yajnya ho raha tha. Baalaka ki tabeeyata kharaaba hui aur vaha shayanakaksh mein leta gaya. Yamadoota usake praana lene aae, parantu baalaka ka haatha shiva ki moorti par tha aur vaha 'om namah shivaaya' japa raha tha. Maata paarvati ne kailaasha se yaha dekha aur vyaakula hokara shiva jee se kahaa— "he praananaatha! Yadi is baalaka ki mrityu hui, to isake maataa-pitaa praana tyaaga denge." mahaadeva ne usa baalaka ko saavana somavaara vrata ke punya prataapa seGranted long life. The child came alive and returned to his city with honor along with his wife (princess). The merchant's house was filled with happiness.

3. Disease relief:Incurable diseases are cured by 'Mahamrityunjaya' and Sawan Monday fast.

॥ Shravan month fast: importance, rules and method. 🕉️🙏

Worshiping Mahadev in the month of Shravan fulfills all the wishes. According to Skanda Purana, there is nothing rare for the person who worships Shiva by eating food once in the month of Saavan or by remaining fasting.

Rules and methods of fasting (Vedic Rituals):

• Brahma Muhurta:Wake up before sunrise and take bath in holy rivers or pure water.

• Purity:Wear white or saffron clothes. Keep chanting'Namah Shivay'continuously in your mind.

• Worship material:Ganga water, Panchamrit (milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugar), ashes, sandalwood, belpatra (without holes), Dhatura, Shami leaves, hemp, and perfume.

• Abhishek:Shivalinga par 'om namah shivaaya' yaa 'mahaamrityunjaya mantra' padhate hue jal aur panchaamrita ki dhaara arpita karen.

• Donation:Donation of food, jaggery, ghee and black sesame seeds to Brahmins is extremely fruitful.
