॥ Shri Sankashti Chaturthi fast story (complete story) ॥ 🐘🔱

Sankashti Chaturthi is celebrated on the Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha of every month. Once Dharmaraja Yudhishthir asked Lord Shri Krishna - "O Krishna! By observing which fast, all the troubles of a person go away and he gets happiness and good fortune? Please tell in detail."

Lord Shri Krishna said - "O son of Kunti! Fasting on Sankashti Chaturthi of Ashadha month (or different months) is a great virtue. I tell you the story which was prevalent in ancient times."

1. The potter and the king's orders

In ancient times, a potter lived in a city. He used to make pottery, but once he installed the awa (pottery kiln), the pots remained raw, they were not cooked. He tried again and again, but every time the utensils came out raw.

After losing, the potter reached the king. The king called the royal wise men and asked for a solution. After their calculations, the pundits said - "Maharaja! If achild is sacrificedin this flour, then the flour will be cooked and the utensils will be perfect."

2. The old woman's son and the fast of Sankashti

By the order of the king, it was announced in the city that families having more than one son would have to sacrifice one son. There lived a poor old woman in that city, who had only one son. The potter deceitfully chose the only son of the same old woman for sacrifice.

That day was Sankashti Chaturthi. The old woman was extremely sad, but could not disobey the king's orders. While bidding farewell to his son, he gave hima 'betel nut' symbolof Lord Ganesha and said - "Son! Lord Ganesha will protect you. You just keep chanting his name."

3. Miracle of Ganesh ji

The son of the old lady was made to sit inside the fire and after pouring mud and fuel on top, it was set on fire. Sitting at home, the old woman started fasting without water and begged Lord Ganesha for her son's life.

The miracle was that despite the fierce fire burning the whole night, the house remained completely cool. The next day when the potter opened the pot, he was stunned. Not only were all her utensils cooked well, but the old woman's son was also sitting alive and safe. By the grace of Lord Ganesha, even the hair of that child was not bald.

4. King's Repentance and Result

When the king came to know about this, he called the old woman. The old lady told that all thisis the effect of Sankashti Chaturthi fast. The king accepted his mistake and announced in the entire kingdom that from today onwards Lord Ganesha would be worshiped on the Chaturthi of every month.
