เฅฅ Tripurari Purnima fast story. ๐Ÿ”ฑ๐ŸŒ•๐Ÿน

Story begins:

In ancient times, there was a very powerful demon named Tarakasura. All three worlds trembled due to his terror. Ultimately Lord Shiva's son Kartikeya killed Tarakasura. After the death of Tarakasura, he had three sons โ€“Tarakaksh, Kamalaksh and Vidyunmali.

To avenge the death of their father, all three brothers performed severe penance to Lord Brahma. Lord Brahma was pleased and asked for a boon. The three demons said in one voice, "O Creator! Please make us immortal." Brahma ji said smilingly - "Sons, death of the one who is born is certain. No living being can be immortal. You ask for some other boon."

1. Origin of Tripura and the twist of the boon

Then those demons, using their intelligence, asked for a very clever boon. He said - "Okay Lord, please grant us such a boon that there should be three very powerful and unique cities for each of us. A city of gold for Tarakaksh, a city of silver for Kamalaksh and an iron city for Vidyunmali. Let these cities float separately in space."

When Lord Brahma was asked how he would die, he said, "Our end would be possible only if after a thousand years such a rare situation comes in space that these three cities would come together in a line, and at the same time Lord Shiva himself would pierce those three cities together with a single arrow from his divine Pinaka bow. Apart from this, our death would not be possible by any other method." Lord Brahma gave the boon by saying 'Amen'.

2. The arrogance of the demons and the uproar in the universe

After getting the boon, the three demons built their own cities and named them -'Tripur'. These cities had everything โ€“ opulence, luxury and power. The demons lived peacefully in those cities for thousands of years and gradually became blinded by ego. He started harassing the sages, destroying yagyas and spreading terror in the three worlds.

All the gods including Indra became extremely frightened. When he could no longer control himself, he reached Kailash to Mahadev Shiva and requested him for protection. Mahadev consoled him and said that he was waiting for the right time.

3. Shiva's huge preparations and divine war

As the rare moment approached when all three cities were about to be aligned in one line, Lord Shiva made preparations for that great destructive war. This was not an ordinary war, so Mahadev showed his immense power:

  • Chariot:Made the entire earth a chariot.

  • Bow:Mount Mahameru was made the Pinaka bow.

  • Arrow:Vishnu himself made the infallible Pashupatastra arrow.

  • Charioteer:Brahma ji took charge of the charioteer.

All the gods, Gandharvas and sages witnessed this war. As soon as the moment came on the night of Kartik Purnima when all three Asur cities (Tripur) came in a straight line in space, Lord Shiva did not waste even a moment. Brahma ji turned the chariot in that direction. Mahadev pulled the string of Pinaka bow and aimed his infallible arrow in the form of Lord Vishnu. He just gave a smile and released the arrow.

4. End of Tripura and name 'Tripurari'

That divine arrow pierced the space with the speed of lightning and as soon as all three cities met at the same point, he reduced those tripuras of gold, silver and iron to ashes with a single arrow. The three demon brothers, Tarakaksha, Kamalaksha and Vidyunmali, were destroyed in that destructive fire. His pride and terror vanished in an instant.

All three worlds became free from the fear of demons. The gods showered flowers and people started chanting 'Har Har Mahadev' all around. Since Lord Shiva destroyed these three cities on the day of Kartik Purnima, theywere called 'Tripurari'(enemies of the Tripuras). Since then this Purnima became famous as 'Tripurari Purnima'.
