॥ Shri Hari Vishnu's grace (Thursday) fast story. 👑🙏
Story begins:
In ancient times, a great and generous king used to rule. He used to fast every Thursday and help the destitute, but his queen did not like this. She neither kept fast nor gave charity to anyone. She refused to give donations even to the king.
Once upon a time, the king had gone to the forest for hunting. There was a queen and a maid at home. At the same time Lord Vishnu took the form of a sage and came to the king's door to beg for alms. When the sadhu asked for alms from the queen, the queen said - "O Sadhu Maharaj! I am fed up of this charity and virtue. All my money is spent in these works. Please tell me some solution by which all this money can be destroyed and I can live comfortably."
Lord Vishnu in the form of a sage said - "O Goddess! You are very strange, people ask for money and children, but you want to destroy the money. If you have more money, then use it in auspicious works, feed the hungry, get them set up." But it had no effect on the queen. He made the same request again.
Then the sage said - "If this is your wish, then do as I say. On Thursday you plaster the house with cow dung, wash your hair with yellow mud, ask the king to shave, use meat and liquor in food and let the washerman wash your clothes. By doing this for seven Thursdays, all your wealth will be destroyed." Saying this the sage disappeared.
The queen did as the sage said. After just three Thursdays, all the king's property was destroyed. The treasury became empty and the king became penniless. The condition of the king became such that it became difficult for him and his family to get even two meals a day. Then the king went to another country in search of work.
Here the queen and the maid started feeling extremely sad. Once when they did not get food for seven days, the queen said to the maid, "My sister lives in a nearby town, she is very rich. You go to her and ask for some grains." The maid went there, but that day was Thursday and the queen's sister was listening to the story, so she did not answer the maid. The maid realized that the queen's sister did not recognize her and returned sad.
When the queen came to know about this, she cried a lot. Then Lord Vishnu again took the form of a sage and met the maid on the way. After hearing all the suffering, he advised the maid to observe fast on Thursday and listen to the story. The sage said, "You take gram pulses and jaggery worth two paisa, put them in a vessel of water and worship the banana tree, then listen to the story. This will remove your poverty."
The maid told this to the queen. Next Thursday he kept a fast and worshiped Lord Vishnu. After the puja, he found two paisa on the way with which he bought gram pulses and jaggery. Listened to the story and accepted the prasad. By the grace of God, the stores of food and money in his house started getting filled again.
On the other hand, in a far away country, the king also received a lot of respect and wealth by the grace of God. The king returned to his city and along with the queen, started worshiping Lord Vishnu every Thursday as per the rituals. At last, after enjoying all the happiness, they went to Vaikuntha Dham.
