॥ Shri Nirjala Ekadashi fast story (complete story) ॥ 🐚🌸🔥

When Ved Vyas ji made the Pandavas pledge to observe the Ekadashi fast which grants them all four Purusharth (Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha), then Bhimsen put a special problem of his own before him.

1. Bhimsen's Dilemma and Vrik-Agni

Bhimsen said - "O most revered grandfather! All the people of my family - brother Yudhishthir, mother Kunti, Draupadi, Arjun, Nakul and Sahadeva - keep fast on every Ekadashi and ask me to keep fast too. But Maharaj, my problem is that I can worship and worship God with great love, but I cannot remain hungry."

Bhima further said - "In my stomacha fierce fire named 'Vrik'burns. It does not calm down unless I eat enough food. Therefore, it is impossible for me to fast for two days in a month. Is there any way by which I can attain salvation and the virtue of Ekadashis without being hungry on every Ekadashi?"

2. Solution of Maharishi Vyas

After listening to Bhimsen, Vyas ji smiled and said - "O Bhim! If you want to escape from hell and wish to reach heaven, then you should not eat food on the day of Ekadashi."

Bhimsen got scared and said - "O Rishivar! I cannot live without eating even for a single meal, so how will I fast the whole day and night? Please tell me only one fast, by observing which I can get the results of all the Ekadashis of the year."

3. Rules of Nirjala Ekadashi

Then Vyas ji said - "O son of Kunti! Listen carefully. The Ekadashi that falls in the Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month is called 'Nirjala Ekadashi'. In this fastapart from Aachman, it is prohibited to consume even a drop of water.

One has to give up water and food from sunrise till sunrise of the next day (Dwadashi). The person who observes fast without water on this day, gets the results of all the 24 Ekadashis of the year by just this one fast. God himself has told me that the virtue of this fast is inexhaustible."

4. Bhimsen's difficult resolution

Hearing the words of Vyas ji, Bhimsen got ready to do this difficult fast. In the scorching heat of the month of Jyeshtha, when the throat becomes dry due to thirst, Bhima observed this fast without water and food.

By the morning of the next day, Bhimsen fainted due to hunger and thirst. Then his brothers gave him Ganga water. By drinking it, it became known as 'Bhimseni Ekadashi'📋💎 Resolve to abstain from eating food on the night of Ekadashiand take a pledge to fill it with water. Donating melon is considered very auspicious.

According to Lord Vyas, the sins of crores of his births are burnt to ashes only after giving food to the Brahmins. One attains Vaikuntha Dham.

भगवान व्यास के अनुसार, जो व्यक्ति निर्जला एकादशी का व्रत पूरी निष्ठा से करता है, उसके करोड़ों जन्मों के पाप जलकर राख हो जाते हैं। उसे अंत समय में यमदूत नहीं, बल्कि भगवान विष्णु के पार्षद लेने आते हैं और वह वैकुण्ठ धाम को प्राप्त होता है।
