॥ Shri Jaya Ekadashi fast story (complete story) ॥ 🐚👉🔱

Dharmaraj Yudhishthir said - "O Janardan! You did me good by telling me the greatness of Shattila Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Magh month. Now please tell me about Magh Shukla Ekadashi. What is its name and what virtue is achieved by doing it?"

Lord Shri Krishna said - "O Dharamraj! Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Magh monthis called 'Jaya Ekadashi'. This Ekadashi is very virtuous. By fasting on it, a person is freed from sins like Brahmahatya and he never has to take birth in the womb of a vampire. Now listen to its story carefully."

1. Celebration of Indralok and Malyavan-Pushpavati

In ancient times, the heaven was ruled by Devraj Indra. A festival was going on in 'Nandan Van' of Indralok, in which Gandharvas were singing and Apsaras were dancing. In that meetinga very beautiful and clever Gandharva named Malyavanwas singing anda very beautiful Apsara named Pushpavatiwas dancing.

2. Attachment and violation of decorum

During singing and dancing, Pushpavati's gaze fell on Malyavan and she became fascinated by him. She started wooing Malyvan with her dance moves. Even Mallyawan lost his senses after seeing the beauty of Pushpavati. Due to being under the spell of attachment, Malyvan forgot the rhythm and rhythm of singing, due to which the music started getting hampered.

3. Indra's anger and terrible curse

When Devraj Indra saw this error in the music, he became very angry. He felt that both of them had violated the decorum of the gathering and insulted the gods.

In anger, Indra cursed them - "O fools! You have tarnished the dignity of heaven. Therefore, both of you are thrown from heaven. Both of you go to the mortal world (earth) and attain the extremely low'vampire vagina'. You will suffer not in the form of men and women, but in the form of flesh-eating vampires."

4. Terrible suffering of vampire vagina

Due to the curse of Indra, both of them fell from heaven at the same moment and became vampires on the inaccessible hills of Himalayas. His body became ugly and scary. He had no rest either during the day or at night. In the harsh cold of the Himalayas, they had neither clothes nor a place to stay. Due to being a vampire, he had to eat foul smelling food. They would be extremely sad and say to each other - "What sins did we commit in our previous birth due to which we got this hell-like vampire vagina?"

5. Unknowingly, the fast of Jaya Ekadashi

Next morning, due to the effect of fasting and awakening of Jaya Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu was blessed. The vampiric state of both of them ended immediately and they again appeared in their divine and beautiful Gandharva-Apsara form. Divine fragrance started emanating from his body and a plane from heaven came to take him.

7. Indra's surprise and realization of truth

When Malyavan and Pushpavati reached heaven again, Devraj Indra was surprised to see them. He asked—"How were you both freed from this terrible curse so quickly? Who gave you permission to come back here?"

Malyavan folded his hands and said - "O Devraj! It is due to the immense compassion of Lord Vishnu and the effect ofof Jaya Ekadashifasting that we have got freedom from this lowly life." Indra was extremely happy to hear this and said, "Those who are devotees of Lord Vishnu and observe fast on Ekadashi, they are also worshipable for me. Now both of you should reside here happily."
