॥ Shri Harivasar (Ambarish) Ekadashi fasting story. 🔱🐚👉

Story begins:

In ancient times, there was a great king named Ambarishin 'Suryavansh'. He was the lord of the entire earth, but his mind was always at the feet of Lord Vishnu. He used to observe very strict fast on every Ekadashi and used to do Parana (breaking of fast) within 'Harivasar' time on Dwadashi day.1. Difficult fast of King Ambarish

Once King Ambarish along with his wife observed Ekadashi fast for a whole year. After the last Ekadashi, when the time of Paran came, the king was worshiping on the banks of Yamuna. At the same time

Maharishi Durvasa2. Crisis of Harivasar and decision of the kingApane shishyon ke saatha vahaan padhaare. Raaja ne prasanna hokara rishi ko bhojana ka nimantrana diya.

Rishi durvaasa ne nimantrana sveekaara kiya aur snaana karne ke lie yamuna nadi chale gae. Unhonne snaana aur dhyaana mein bahuta adhika samay laga diya.

On the other hand, only half of the auspicious time (Harivasar) of Dwadashi tithi was left. According to the scriptures, if Parana is not performed within Dwadashi, then the fast becomes ineffective. King Ambarisha is in a dilemma – if he eats before the arrival of the sage, the guest will be insulted and if he does not, the fast will be broken.

On the advice of the learned Brahmins, the king broke his fast by simply

drinking 'Lord's Charanamrit' (water containing basil). Consuming water is not considered equivalent to food, but it completes the fast.3. Rishi Durvasa's anger and the birth of 'Kritya'

When Maharishi Durvasa returned, he came to know through his yoga power that the king had taken water before his arrival. He turned red with anger and said, "Oh sinner! You have insulted me by pretending to be a devotee. I will punish you now."

Sage Durvasa uprooted one of his hair and made

'Kritya' from it.'कृत्या'Created a terrible demon named. Blazing like fire, she ran to kill King Ambarish. The king was not afraid, he folded his hands and started meditating on Lord Vishnu.

4. The attack of Sudarshan Chakra and the escape of the sage

As soon as Kritya reached near the king, Lord Vishnu'sSudarshan Chakraappeared there. The Chakra incinerated Kritya in a moment and then he went after Sage Durvasa. Durvasa ji ran to all the three worlds to save his life. He went to Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva, but no one dared to save him from Sudarshan Chakra.

Finally, Durvasa ji reached Lord Vishnu in Ksheer Sagar. Lord Vishnu said -"Aham Bhaktaparadhinno..."(Meaning: I am under the control of my devotees. You have insulted my devotee, therefore only King Ambarish can save you. Go to his feet.")

5. Glory of the king's forgiveness and fast

Tired and defeated, Sage Durvasa fell back at the feet of King Ambarish. The king prayed to Sudarshan Chakra and pacified him. The king worshiped the sage for a year. Waited and bowed down after seeing the devotion of the king.
