thursday fast story

It is a matter of ancient times. In a city a moneylender lived with his wife. There was no dearth of wealth, opulence and comforts in his house, but his wife was very proud of her wealth. She was neither interested in worshiping God nor interested in charity. If saints and sages came to her door, she would not respect them. Despite there being prosperity in the house, he was not satisfied.

One day on Thursday, a devotee of Lord Vishnu came to his house in the guise of a Brahmin. He stood at the door and begged for alms. The moneylender's wife was engaged in household work at that time. He said irritably, “I don't have time right now, you go ahead.”

The Brahmins returned peacefully. Next Thursday he came again and begged for alms. This time also he avoided them. When the same thing happened on the third Thursday, the Brahmin said politely, “O Goddess, if you remain thus averse to charity and religion, the glory of your house will not last long.”

The woman became proud and said, “If it is so, then tell me, how will the wealth of my house be destroyed?”

The Brahmin said, "If you want the wealth to be destroyed quickly, then on Thursday, cover the house with cow dung, wash the head, disrespect yellow clothes or yellow things, and get the men of the house to shave their beard and hair. This will displease Lord Brihaspati and all the glory of the house will be destroyed."

Saying this the Brahmin went away. The woman accepted what he said as truth and started doing the same. Within a short time the prosperity of his house began to deteriorate. Money ran out, there was a shortage of food, livestock disappeared and poverty prevailed in the house. The family started feeling sad.

Now the woman started regretting her actions. One day the same Brahmin again came to his house. This time the woman was very sad. He fell at his feet and said, "Forgive me. Why has my house become in this condition? Please tell me the solution."

The Brahmin said, "O Goddess, all this is the result of your arrogance and unrighteousness. If you wish, observe the Thursday fastwith devotion and regularity. Worship Lord Jupiter and Lord Vishnu, respect yellow things, worship the banana tree, wear yellow clothes, donate yellow food or gram pulses to the Brahmins, and listen to the story. By doing this, happiness and splendor will return to your home."

The woman folded her hands and said, “I will definitely do so.”

From next Thursday he started fasting with full devotion. She would take bath in the morning, wear clean yellow clothes, purify the place of worship, worship Lord Vishnu and Brihaspati Dev, light a lamp, listen to stories and donate yellow things. She left her ego, started respecting sages and saints and started devoting herself to charity.

Gradually the condition of his house started changing. Money and grain started coming in, grain stores started filling up, happiness and peace returned to the family and prosperity once again resided in the house. That woman now became humble and religious. She thanked God and started fasting on Thursdays regularly.

When her neighbors saw happiness and prosperity again in her house, they asked her the reason for this. He told everyone the importance of Thursday fast. Then many women started observing this fast with devotion and they also got auspicious results from it.

In this way, the man or woman who acts with reverence, devotion, purity and rulesobserve the Thursday fast, happiness, peace, wealth, children's happiness and prosperity reside in his house. By the grace of Lord Jupiter and Lord Vishnu, the troubles of life are removed and wishes are fulfilled.

Say Jai to Lord Jupiter.
