📖 Mythology

It is a story of ancient times.
Once Lord Ganesha was engrossed in penance on the banks of Ganga. He was meditating and remembering Lord Vishnu.

At the same time, a very beautiful and bright girl passed by, whose name wasTulsi.
Tulsi was a devout and ascetic, and she was in search of a suitable groom.

When her eyes fell on Lord Ganesha, she was extremely impressed by his brilliance, form and divine aura.

Tulsi decided in her mind -
👉 “Only such a divine man is worthy of becoming my husband.”

She went to Lord Ganesha and humbly said –
👉 “O Lord! I want to have you as my husband, please accept marriage with me.”

🐘 Ganesh ji's answer

Lord Ganesha was engrossed in intense penance at that time.
He replied calmly—

👉 "O Goddess! I am celibate and have no intention of getting married.
Therefore, I cannot accept your proposal."

🔥 Tulsi's anger

Hearing these words of Lord Ganesha, Tulsi became extremely angry.
His heart got hurt and in anger he cursed Lord Ganesha -

👉 "O Ganesha! You will definitely get married."

🔱 Curse of Lord Ganesha

Lord Ganesha also became unhappy with this behavior of Tulsi.
He also cursed her and said -

👉 "O Tulsi! You will be married to a demon."

Hearing this, Tulsi realized his mistake.
She fell at the feet of Lord Ganesha and started asking for forgiveness.

🙏 Result of the curse

Seeing his repentance, Lord Ganesha forgave him, but did not completely withdraw his curse.

He said -

👉 “You will be married to the demonShankhachuda,
but you will later be worshiped as a sacred plant.”

Since then, the Tulsi plant is considered extremely sacred and is especially offered in the worship of Lord Vishnu.

🚫 Why Tulsi is not offered in Ganesh Puja

According to this story -

👉 Lord Ganesha also told Tulsi that
"You will not be accepted in my worship."

For this reason even today
👉 Tulsi Dal is not offered in the worship of Lord Ganesha
