Importance of fasting

Mythology

In ancient times, a poor Brahmin lived in a city. He was extremely religious and a devotee of Lord Shiva. But his financial condition was very bad. His family had to struggle even for food. One day he went to the nearby forest where he saw an ancient Shiva temple.

A saint was worshiping Lord Shiva in the temple. The Brahmin told him his problem. The saint told him that If he follows Bholnath Kripa Vrat Katha with devotion and worships Lord Shiva, his difficulties can be overcome.

The Brahmin started the fast from the same day. Every morning he would take bath and go to the temple, offer water to the Shivalinga. Offered Belpatra and chanted the name of Lord Shiva. Gradually his devotion and faith started increasing.

After some time, Lord Shiva was pleased with his devotion. One night the Brahmin saw Lord Shiva in his dream. Lord Shiva blessed him and said that his devotion would not go in vain.

After this, changes started taking place in the life of the Brahmin. His work started becoming successful and there was happiness and prosperity in his house. Has arrived. He thanked Lord Shiva and remained engaged in devotion to Shiva throughout his life.

This story teaches us that a person who worships Lord Shiva with a true heart is never disappointed. Lord Shiva always blesses his devotees.

Method of worship

• Take bath in the morning and wear clean clothes.
• Meditate on Lord Shiva and take a resolution to fast.
• Offer water, milk and belpatra on Shivalinga.
• Worship by offering incense, lamp and flowers.
• Bhagavaana shiva ki aarti karen aur vrata katha ka path karen.

Rules of fasting

Vrata ke dina saatvika bhojana karna chahiye aur bhagavaana shiva ke mantra "om namah shivaaya" ka japa karna chahiye. Kai bhakta is dina phalaahaara karate hain aur dina bhara bhagavaana shiva ka smarana karate hain.
