เฅฅ Shri Angaraki Sankashti Chaturthi fasting story. ๐๐ฅ
Story begins:
In ancient times, 'Angarak' (Mangal Dev), son of Maharishi Bhardwaj, was born in 'Avanti' city (present day Ujjain). He was a great devotee of Lord Ganesha. Taking permission from his father, he went to the forest to perform severe penance to please Lord Ganesha.
Angarak meditated on the form of Lord Ganesha by fasting for many years and performing severe penance. Pleased with his penance, Lord Ganeshaappeared on Chaturthi Tithiof Krishna Paksha of Magh month, whichwas Tuesday.
Lord Ganesha said to Angarak - "O Angarak! I am extremely pleased with your hard penance and unwavering devotion. You can ask for any boon as per your wish."
Angarak prayed with folded hands - "O Ganayak! O Vinayak! My only wish is that my name should always be associated with your devotion. Also, may all the devotees who observe your fast on this day be successful and may they never suffer any trouble."
Lord Ganesha smiled and blessed - "Amen! Today is Tuesday and Chaturthi date. From today onwards your name will be 'Mangal' (Mangalkari) and today's Chaturthiwill be known as 'Angaraki Chaturthi'. Any person who fasts and worships me on this day will get the fruits of Sankashti Chaturthi for a whole year. All the troubles (obstacles) will go away from his life. And he will not be hindered in any work."
After giving the boon, Lord Ganesha disappeared. Since then, the fast of Angaraki Chaturthi started being considered very effective.
