॥ Sri Aja Ekadashi fast story (complete story) ॥ 🐚👉🔱

Dharmaraj Yudhishthir said - "O Janardan! Now please tell me about Bhadrapada Krishna Ekadashi. What is its name and what is its story?"

Lord Shri Krishna replied - "O son of Kunti! The name of this Ekadashiis 'Aja'. The person who fasts with devotion on this day, all his accumulated sins are destroyed. Its story is related to the life of the truthfulking Harishchandra. Listen carefully."

1. Difficult test of Chakravarti king Harishchandra

In ancient times, a Chakravarti king namedking Harishchandraused to rule in the city of 'Ayodhya'. He was famous in all three worlds for his truthfulness and piety. Once, to test his truth, he gave up his entire kingdom and also sold himself, his wifeTaramatiand sonRohit.

2. Slavery of Chandal in Kashi

King Harishchandra was bought by a Chandal of Kashi. The king started guarding the cremation ground there and collecting tax for the shrouds of the dead. They used to burn dead bodies all day long and lived a very miserable life. Many years passed, but the king did not give up his religion and truth.

Even in a state of extreme sadness, he used to think - "What sin have I committed due to which I have to do this despicable act and get separated from my family?"

3. Arrival and advice of Maharishi Gautam

One day the king was sitting very worried, thenMaharishi Gautamarrived there. The king bowed to the sage and narrated his plight. The king said, “O Rishivar! When will I be free from this hell-like state? Is there any end to my suffering?”

Maharishi Gautam said - "O King! After seven days from today, 'Aja Ekadashi'of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month is going to come. You fast on that day and stay awake at night. By the virtue of this fast, all the sins of your previous births will be burnt away and you will again get happiness and prosperity."4. Fast and Siddhi of Aja Ekadashi

King Harishchandra kept a fast of 'Aja Ekadashi' as per the advice of Maharishi Gautam. He worshiped Lord Vishnu with full devotion and stayed awake the whole night singing kirtans.

Next morning, a miracle happened. The gods showered flowers on the king from heaven. The king saw that his son Rohit, who had died due to snake bite, had come back to life. His wife Taramati is standing in royal clothes and his lost kingdom 'Ayodhya' has been returned to him.

5. Freedom from sins and going to Vaikuntha

With the influence of Aja Ekadashi, all the sufferings of the king ended. He again ruled righteously for many years and finally departed to Vaikuntha Loka
